BUDGET

Please indicate which general type of project you are hoping to achieve as determined by rough budget numbers or preferences that you have. These budget numbers are a rough guide. Each home and kitchen
will vary in existing conditions and problems that need correction. For example, older homes will have higher demolition costs, including probable lead-based paint and asbestos and also need more improvements to basic infrastructure (plumbing, electrical, mechanical, etc.). In many homes, special sidings and moldings will be needed. If new space needs to be added to the house to increase the size of a kitchen - this is NOT included in these budgets.

1) Minor Improvement 12K to 25K

Kitchen Design: $400 to $600
Repair/paint/refinish existing cabinets, new plastic laminate countertops and self-rimming sink, new vinyl
floor, paint walls and ceilings, some new appliances (re-use others), limited electrical and plumbing. Higher budget allows for accent items like tile backsplash or infrastructure upgrade.

2) Economic Kitchen - 20K (small kitchens), 30K (moderate size kitchens), 40K (larger kitchens)

Kitchen Design: $500 to $900
This is a complete removal of the existing kitchen. Includes some light framing, limited window or door relocation, upgrade electrical to code, minor plumbing upgrade, new sheetrock, new price-conscious cabinets and appliances, plastic laminate or simple tile countertops with tile backsplash, Marmoleum or vinyl floor,
new window/door trim, paint walls/ceiling.

3) Moderate Kitchen - 35K (small), 45K (moderate), 55K (larger)

Kitchen Design: $800 to $1,200
Again, a complete removal of the existing kitchen. Includes some light framing, new window or exterior door, upgrade electrical and plumbing to code in area of kitchen, new sheetrock, new designer cabinets and
moderate-priced appliances, porcelain tile or granite tile countertops with backsplash, high-end vinyl floor or porcelain tile floor, new window/door trim, paint walls/ceiling, new light plan and light fixtures.

4) High-End Kitchen - 50K (small), 60K (moderate), 75K and up (larger)

Kitchen Design: $1,000 to $1,500
Again, a complete removal of the existing kitchen. Includes light framing, new windows and/or exterior door, upgrade electrical and plumbing to code in area of kitchen, new sheetrock, higher-end cabinets with molding detail and professional-style appliances, granite slab countertops with granite tile backsplash, wood or tile floors, new window/door trim, paint walls/ceiling, new light plan and high-tech light fixtures.
