Belmont Craftsman Kitchen Remodel

Over the last twenty years, Square Deal Remodeling has many remodeled dozens of Craftsman homes, yet we never cease to marvel at their timeless beauty and enduring style. These pictures of a recent kitchen in Craftsman in Portland’s Belmont neighborhood illustrates the nine-foot ceilings in this space, a wonderful feature of old Portland Craftsman homes. We took advantage of this by installing new windows and a back door with a large transom window above to let in as much natural light as possible. A new corner breakfast nook with bead-board backing was designed to give this family a place to relax and converse. Check out the new period-style button light switches – a classic look updated to meet modern electrical code.

We honored this classic house by designing a kitchen that gives a nod to old timey style freshened with new, modern inset cabinetry and fixtures. Can you tell where the dishwasher is? A custom panel to match the cabinetry was installed there to conserve the period aesthetic. Our designer and client selected the beveled subway tile and liners along with the mural behind the range for a modern touch. The existing sink window was replaced and enlarged to add more height and light to the space. Colored cork floor tiles go with the custom paint scheme to tie things together.
